Dr. Hoffman works with children, adolescents and adults to provide state-of-the-art psychiatric, neurologic, and holistic consultation, evaluation, and treatment. His comprehensive approach focuses on achieving and maintaining a patient's mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

Through a detailed personal history, neuroendocrine assessment and nutritional evaluation, Dr. Hoffman works collaboratively with his patients to identify problem areas. His holistic approach to treating the whole patient may include medication, nutritional supplements, or other therapeutic interventions.

Though his practice is limited to outpatient services, Dr. Hoffman maintains cooperative relationships with inpatient services throughout the region.

Experience & Training

Originally from Chicago, IL, Michael A. Hoffman, M.D. has been practicing psychiatry in Staunton, VA since 1983. He received his medical degree from Rush Medical College, and completed his residencies at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago and the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

From 1983 to 1985, Dr. Hoffman served as the director of psychiatric services at Rockbridge Mental Health Clinic in Lexington, VA. He was also the creator and Medical Director of Crossroads, the inpatient psychiatric unit at Augusta Health in Fishersville, VA (formerly King's Daughters Hospital in Staunton, VA) from 1983 until his retirement from inpatient services in 1998.

Board certified in psychiatry, neurology, and integrative holistic medicine, Dr. Hoffman currently serves as the Medical Director of Associated Mental Health Professionals, Inc. in Staunton, VA. He specializes in psychopharmacology and holistic mental health.
